| Soulfly break from studio for tour with Static X |
Soulfly's heavy mayhem will share the stage with Static-X's techno-fueled rock when
the two bands hook up for a co-headlining tour beginning January 31 in San Francisco.
The three-week trek bounds across the country in 15 dates, ending February 24 in
Washington, D.C.
In order to take their show on the road, Soulfly will pause from working on their
new album, the follow-up to 2000's Primitive, with producer Otto D'Agnolo at the
helm. D'Agnolo engineered Point Blank (1994) by Nailbomb, which featured Soulfly
frontman Max Cavalera.
New Soulfly songs such as "Downstroy," "Seek and
Strike," "Last of the Mohicans" and "Soulfly III" are
expected to be played on the tour, which marks the return of the band's original drummer,
Ray Mayorga, who was replaced by Joe Nunez for Primitive.
Soulfly's as-yet-untitled third album is expected to be released this spring.
Static-X, meanwhile, are touring behind their second album, last year's Machine.
Soil, on the heels of their latest LP, Scars, will serve as openers.
